  1. Jerome Kirby was the first evangelist I had at my first church. He preached for me the week I turned 18-years-old. I never will forget it. He was always kind and encouraging to me. I thank the Lord for his life and ministry. Praying for his family and congregation.

Pastor Kirby came to Gt. Mt. Olive every year for revival, what an inspiration he was to me as a young preacher. To observe him and Dr. Woodberry was priceless. They are having a time in Glory. Our Prayers go out to his family and church.

  3. Dr. Jerome Kirby was truly a giant in the Gospel Ministry, one of God’s greatest preacher’s. He was a down to earth brother who kept it real all of the time. A great preacher, teacher and friend. My heart felt prayers and love goes out his family and his church family The Mount Moriah Baptist Church. Absent fromhe body present with The Lord R.I.P. “loveoutloud” Peace & Love,

  4. My father, Dr. Mozel Sanders, used to bring Dr. Kirby to our church as the youth evangelist to expose me to couarage, boldness and talent in young preachers. We remained friends for 40 years.
What a privilege to have known him.

  5. I met Dr. Jerome Kirby my senior year on the campus of Bishop College. It was evident then that he would be one of the nation’s foremost preachers. He arranged a revival for me at his home church in Detroit that I conducted for 21 years. We will certainly miss his voice and his clear and concise explanations of scripture. My prayers are with his family and the people of New Mt Moriah Baptist Church…

  6. Thank you Pastor Jerome C. Kirby for some of the most memorable and enjoyable sermons and moments during revival at Mt. Olive B.C. Greenwood, Louisiana. Your sermons were some of the most enjoyable we’ve heard in our life.

When one instinctively think of Rev. Jerome Kirby, we think of him as an inspiring man, selfless spiritual leader, evangelist, friend, and one of the leading preachers of all time. Indeed, Jerome Kirby was an anointed evangelist who traveled all over the U.S., but what is even more remarkable is the impression he made on all of us.

We wish we could hear your precious voice and sermons “live” just one more time. Without a doubt, you blessed and made a lasting imprint on all those who were able to hear your melodic voice and sermons, a treasure that no one can ever take away. Our deepest prayers and sympathy to your family, friends and all who loved you. Thank you Pastor Kirby for giving a little bit of yourself to the world. May God bring peace at this time. (2 Cor. 1:1-2)

    Rest in Peace…..

“It’s Not How Long You Make It, It’s How You Make It Long” will always be the sermon that I remember you preaching at Bishop College. Our years of friendship and love will never die. We were neighbors in the Riverfront for seven years. We will always be brothers in eternity.

  10. I thank God for the friendship and preaching ministry of Pastor Kirby! I had the pleasure of serving a church that he previously pastored and had the chance to bring him back for revival several times. The time spent with him was a blessing to my ministry and has touched me indelibly! Great Brother, Preacher, and Friend!

    Blessings!

SAYING GOODBYE TO PASTOR JEROME KIRBY IS HARD…. BUT I (Blanche Henley) SAY GOOD NIGHT! 2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV) to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
Death is not the end. Death is really a beginning—another step forward in Heavenly Father’s plan for His children. Someday, like everyone else, your physical body will die. But your spirit does not die, it goes to the spirit world, where you will continue to learn and progress and may be with loved ones who have passed on. Death is a necessary step in your progression, just as your birth was. Sometime after your death, your spirit and your body will be reunited—never to be separated again. This is called resurrection, and it was made possible by the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ (see 1 Corinthians 15:20-22).
Jerome and I were friends in Dallas, Texas when many students came by my house to eat and talk. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. But Love leaves memories no one can steal.
    Blanche Augustus

  13. WE IN AUSTIN TEXAS WERE SADDENED TO HEAR OF THE DEATH OF OUR LONG-TIME FRIEND, REV. KIRBY. I KNEW HIM AT BISHOP COLLEGE IN DALLAS AND I AM SORRY TO SAY THAT I HAVE NOT TALKED WITH HIM AS OFTEN AS I SHOULD HAVE. I HAVE SOME WONDERFUL MEMORIES AND KEEN INSIGHTS SHARED OVER THE YEARS. HE BLESSED US TO COME TO AUSTIN AND PREACH TWICE IN THE LAST 15 YEARS. THE LAST SERMON I HEARD HIM PREACH IN PERSON WAS “I CAME TO PICK A FIGHT”.

THE WORLD WOULD BE BETTER BY FAR WITH A FEW MORE SUCH AS HE. IF THE CELEBRATION WILL BE STREAMED ONLINE, PLEASE LET US KNOW.

  14. I met Pastor Kirby when he pastored St. James Baptist Church in Gary, Indiana. He was so encouraging to the children at that time and greatly influenced many of them to overcome obstacles and pursue college degrees. He left a great legacy here

Dr. Jerome Kirby was one of the son’s of Burnette Baptist Church under the late Dr. James Allen Caldwell. I knew when he preached his first sermon that he was trully annoint by God in a mighty way. He has touched so many lives and done so much in the community. My prayers go out to the family and members of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Another great servant has gone home.

Dr. Kirby was truly an exceptional and superb giant in the Gospel ministry. During the City- Wide Revival held in Dallas Texas at the Goodstreet Baptist, he preached that week with tremendous power and with much conviction. He left a great impact on the mind and hearts of many that had the privilege of hearing him. He will truly miss him; however, he was God’s child and we must submit to God’s sovreignty. Rev. Johnny Calvin Smith, Pastor of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas
